     In Ellen Goodman's "Spring Cleaning"(2002) she informs readers that the evidence of memories and family stories are more important than heirlooms. She organizes this essay through her process of spring cleaning, she takes the audience through the development of deciphering where true importance lies.  Goodman uses her process of thought of in order to inform readers where true value and worth lies. Her intended audience is individuals who tend to hold on to thing.              My first thought from reading the title was that the passage was going to be about making your life better by taking out the old traits.      In the informative chapter, " The Most Dangerous Job"(2002), Eric Schlosser gives readers a closer look at the environment and work conducted inside of a slaughterhouse. He organizes the chapter in a sequence of encounters he witnesses while in the plant. Schlosser writes this detailed chapter in order to inform the audience about the process and working conditions of a cattle slaughtering plant. His audience is aimed toward American consumers.       When I first read the title, I thought it would either be something involving nuclear reactors or being a teacher. But when I realized it was about slaughterhouse workers, my curiosity turned to disgust.           In "Lifeboat Ethics"(1974), Garret Hardin argues equal distribution is not ethical. The author separates the essay into main arguments, Hardin begins the paragraph with a main idea and gives lots of statistics and analogies that help readers understand his argument. The author uses metaphors and real life examples in order to show readers it is best to govern their actions with the ethics of a lifeboat. Garret Hardin's audience is the citizens of America.     When I first read the title, my prediction was that the article would be about the ethics and morals of life. I was correct for the most part as it talked about the ethics of prioritizing one's life over another.           Amitai Etzioni’s “ Working at McDonalds” (1986) argues that fast food jobs interfere with school involvement, teaches little educational skills, and distorts teens values. The author develops this argument by using examples, statistics, and case studies to provide solid evidence that supports his claims. Etzioni writes this article in order to inform the audience about the negative impact that working in fast food can have on teenagers. The author writes too large audience of high school students who may be looking into the fast food industry. But English 1101 helped to realize that skipping out on tools such as the writing process and relying on my naturals skills wasn't going to cut it.
